Backflow Preventer Assembly Testing is regulated by the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services - to test backflow preventers in the state you have to be on their list of approved testers - and they reference regulation ENV-DW 505 for their requirements. They updated their rules on 05/01/2024 ( bottom of the first page ) to include two associations we are not affiliated with ( NEWWA and ASSE ). We have submitted our New England Region Backflow Tester Program to the state but have not received any formal approval.
Similar to Maine, you could likely utilize our program or the American Backflow Prevention Association ( ABPA ) tester certification as equivalent, we are longstanding members and partners with ABPA and can proctor their exams, and they are nationally recognized as the Gold Standard for integrity and record keeping for their third party exams. Over the years, we have found many Massachusetts testers that take our program also submit the Massachusetts State license to water purveyors in New Hampshire and they view the certification as reciprocal, but over the years we never really offered a New Hampshire specific program, but we hope to receive formal approval and listing for this in the near future.
We have found the USC 10th Edition testing procedures to be the most efficient, often with additional procedures required on the RP for some water purveyors. On our YouTube Channel, we created a series of videos explaining the testing procedures and how to prepare for practical exams:
Testing the Reduced Pressure Principle ( RP ) - By the Book
Testing the Double Check Valve Assembly ( DCV ) - By the Book

This course is the New Hampshire version of Kruger Training Academy's New England Region Backflow Tester Program and is done concurrently with other programs. The goal is to have 6 different programs meeting all 6 states' requirements, but have the curriculum integrated in such a way that the core materials are the same. We include an overview of the 6 requirements and a breakdown on the next steps to become registered with all entities required. Often testers are only seeking certification in one or two states in the region, but sometimes they are seeking certification for many or all of them. The New England Region Backflow Tester Program is not valid in New York or other states, only in New England, if seeking certification in other states or regions, check out our main page www.krugerstraining.academy and pick whatever states you are interested in.
