Approvals and Registrations

We recently received formal approval from the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services, who regulate the licensing examinations and pre-requisite trainings for most trades and also backflow prevention testers in the state.

How Do I Become a Certified Backflow Tester in Wisconsin?

Backflow Prevention Assembly Testers, especially those working with water purveyors in the state, are regulated by the Department of Safety and Professional Services. They require a student seeking certification to take a 40-hour course that is approved by the Department, where our submission has recently been approved.

Which Backflow Preventer Testing Procedures Should I Use?

There are a bunch of options when it comes to testing backflow preventers as far as which procedures to use. We have found that the ASSE 5000 Single Hose Procedures are most efficient if you can use them, and have fewer requirements as far as equipment, connector tees, and number of hoses and adapters needed.

On our YouTube channel, we created a series of videos where we test the four types of preventers using these procedures if you're not familiar with them:

Reduced Pressure Principle (RPZ) - ASSE 5000 Single Hose Procedures

Double Check Valve Assembly (DCV) - ASSE 5000 Single Hose Procedures

Pressure Vacuum Breaker (PVB) - ASSE 5000 Single Hose Procedures

Spill Resistant Vacuum Breaker (SVB) - ASSE 5000 Single Hose Procedures
